Took a day off from writing MMA to go to the Price is Right. Came home with a little more than I bargained for...

Recently, Chael Sonnen did an email interview with an MMA reporter named Jon Lane.  In that interview, Chael hammered into Jon with off the wall answers and mocked the writer for the questions he asked the UFC middleweight.

Jon, I know, is a great writer and has covered the sport for quite some time.  I've had a few conversations with Jon and I know he's a one of the good writers in the industry.

Just to let him know he's not alone, I figure I should post an email interview I did with Sonnen a few months ago.  At the time, I was yet to receive the news that Sonnen's fight with Silva had been announced minutes before, so my questions to Sonnen sounded outdated--he definitely let me know about it.

Peep it...

( Hands on demo at E3 2010 for Xbox360. Control set-up may vary for PS3 )

As I waited at the EA MMA booth, eagerly looking for my opportunity to get my hands on the game. I see someone reaching out to hand me a controller to play with him. I see on his shirt, "THQ." He quickly indicates to me, "I worked on UFC UNDISPUTED 2010. I'm checking out the competition." That's when I realized, this experience will be much better than I ever expected.

UFC 113 is tomorrow and I'm pretty stoked to watch the rematch between Shogun and Machida.  I think this rematch is arguably the most deserved in MMA history and should be a good fight between two very technical fighters.

As much as people criticize Kimbo Slice for not being a "mixed martial artist," I'm excited to see him get in there a scrap with Matt Mitrione.  Kimbo has some firepower in those hands of his and I'd like to see what they can do once they land on someone's chin.  Sorry, Matt.

Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley were pretty reserved on the conference call but I know there's animosity there, especially since Daley called Kos a "Fraggle."  I think someone is definitely getting KO'd or submitted in that one.

Weigh-ins are today and you can watch there here on the player below.  Enjoy them while I go to the office and miss the live stream... I'm already jealous of you.

When I first started watching MMA, I looked at the UFC and Pride FC to be the organizations with the most talent.

When Pride FC folded in 2007, a part of me was saddened by the failure, but another felt good about the majority of Pride's fighters making their way to the UFC for potential super fights.

Of course, not everyone's talent came with them from Japan to the Americas, and many former Pride standouts became relatively mid-level UFC combatants.

This week there has been a change in my focus regarding MMA writing. After 105 articles, several interviews, and countless hours of less sleep, I will no longer be contributing articles to this blog. Instead, I will be focusing all of my writing at BleacherReport.com where I will be covering MMA for the site at events, press conferences, weigh-ins and all that other fun stuff.

I might, from time to time, write a quick blog about my day but it will more than likely be done at my twitter account (twitter.com/NahmMMA) first before I log on here again.

You can still catch all of my writing at Bleacher Report but NahmMMA.com will no longer be the source of my MMA journalism. If you've been reading this blog, thanks for supporting and I'll see you from press row.

Peace! I'm out.

For the first time in the organization’s history, the UFC will make their way to the Middle East for UFC 112. The venture will take place at Ferrari World, a theme park with an outdoor arena suitable for events such as a UFC card.

The night is headlined by two title fights in Anderson Silva defending his middleweight belt against Demian Maia and BJ Penn defending his lightweight strap against Frankie Edgar .

Betting lines for the fights are as expected with Penn and Silva being the favorites in their respected bouts.

Earlier today, BJ Penn was featured on CNN providing footage to the popular news organization regarding the tsunami warning sent out to residents of Hawaii.

The tsunami warning came on the heels of an 8.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the country of Chile, killing hundreds of people, destroying buildings, and even flipping over cars on the street.

The quake was followed by some 40 or so aftershocks that had their own kick to them as some were measured to be greater than 6.0 on the Richter Scale.

BJPenn.com became the source for media coverage of Hilo Bay, which strikes many as a random method to collect news and information, but hey, they got the job done.

This action by BJ Penn goes to show that mixed martial artists care more for the world than what critics of the sport have claimed. Not all fighters concentrate on beating their opponents to a bloody pulp. Most have families they take care of and look out for.

Today, Penn’s family was threatened, but luckily no one was directly affected by tsunami damage.

The polarizing figure that is Brock Lesnar currently holds a death grip on the world of mixed martial arts.

His persona, though sometimes disliked by fans, attracts people from all walks of life and keeps them glued to the television, if not purchasing tickets to a UFC card he’s billed on.

Making his UFC debut in early 2008, Lesnar captivated the audience in a loss to Frank Mir, and garnered the attention of many around the world who found it curious to see a former WWE wrestler in a cage with fighters who have been professionally trained more so than he had been up to that point.

For some time now, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been recognized as a highly competitive contender within the ranks of mixed martial arts. But recently, the Memphis, TN, native has been back and forth between wanting to fight and make a name for himself in Hollywood by doing feature films.

By now, most people have heard about Jackson and his role as BA Baracus in the upcoming film The A-Team . The effort of making a movie career for himself caused Jackson to bow out of his fight with Rashad Evans at UFC 107, then post a blog on his website stating that he was done fighting.

The move by Rampage lead to Zuffa, parent company to the UFC, to file a suit against the former champion.
